Large Format

Large-Format FDM

Large-format FDM extends thermoplastic printing to 600 mm and beyond in a single piece — or larger via engineered segmentation and bonding. Used for architectural models, ergonomic bucks, and full-scale fixtures.

How Large Format works

  1. 01

High-flow extrusion deposits heavy beads for speed.

  2. 02

Segmentation strategy is engineered for oversize parts.

  3. 03

Segments are keyed, bonded and blended.

  4. 04

Surfaces are filled, sanded and coated as specified.

Strengths

  • Meter-scale capability
  • Fast heavy deposition
  • Economical visual parts
  • Segmentation expertise

Limitations

  • Coarser finish as printed
  • Longer lead times
  • Weight of large solids

Design rules for Large Format

Full guidance in the interactive design guide.

Minimum wall (unsupported)1.2 mm
Minimum wall (supported)1.0 mm
Minimum hole diameter3.0 mm
Minimum feature size1.0 mm
Moving-part clearance0.6 mm
Minimum embossed text3.0 mm height, 1.0 mm depth
Overhang threshold45° without support
Max build dimensions600 × 600 × 600 mm
  • Parts beyond the envelope are segmented with keyed joints and bonded.
  • Coarse layer options cut print time dramatically on visual parts.
  • Body filler + paint achieves automotive-grade large surfaces.
